Working Fiesta’s Economy

I’m sure you’re aching to pick up that +9 weapon you’ve been drooling over, or those tier 3 scroll prices are insanely high but you need the extra boosts when grinding.

Working Fiesta’s economy isn’t nearly as difficult as it is in other MMORPGs, but it does require work and attention. While creating alternate characters is certainly a plus, they are not entirely necessary to line your coffers with the money you need. Many have suggested trying to split your funds into two separate stockpiles, one you don’t touch, the other is your free spending allowance. While this technique has shown the potential to make you prosper, by itself you wont notice significant gains unless you combine the method with economic enterprise.

Elderine is the Wall Street of Fiesta. It’s the central hub (until the higher levels of the game) for transactions, big and small, and it’s where you’ll begin your quest to make some money. To start off, visit player stores. Spend as much time as you can visiting stores and taking notes even. Over time, you’ll start to discover what the average price of an item is, what’s above average and what’s below average. Everyone’s trying to make money, so you’ll always find players trying to undercut (sell the same item for slightly less than the guy next to him) someone else to turn a profit.

Tips and Help:

Remember the cardinal virtue of money-making: patience.

Example:

Scrolls are a money maker, but the materials required to make them and work your skills up are difficult to acquire. Summoned beast leather is almost always in high demand, and because it’s generally dropped by low level monsters, by the time you get to Elderine and you’re in the 20s and 30s level-wise, finding it’s difficult unless you spend a lot of time killing Ice ViVis in Moonlight Tomb.

This means you can do one of two things:

1. Create an alt and farm slimes.
2. Work the market.

Find out what the average price of a tier 2 vitality scroll is on your server. On Epith, they’ve recently been selling at around 5s each. Yesterday, I found a guy selling them for 3s each. I bought 10 (only 30s) and resold them today at 5s each (not a big difference), but I made 20s profit. 20s is nothing to scoff at. Imagine if you built up enough capital to buy a stack of 50 vitality scrolls at 3s each (150s for the lot). Resell at 5s each, you make 100s profit. Not bad, eh?

Work the market. People have made their living doing this on Ebay, so why not do it in Fiesta? Be smart. Be patient. Don’t get discouraged if you bought something you thought was cheap, raised the price a little bit, and nobody’s buying. The fact of the matter is, someone will almost ALWAYS need what you have. It’s just a waiting game.

The second thing to watch for is market trends. What’s hot right now? What do people need? Watch people talking in general. Look in the community tab for people looking to buy and sell. Read the forums. If a respected player writes in a forum that fighters should start using items that add dexterity, the value of that +str +dex ring you found will probably jump.

Be a packrat. Keep everything until you’re sure it’s either vendor trash or the value will continuously depreciate until it’s worth nothing. Pretend the warehouse is your stock portfolio. Always remember what you’ve got in there. Keep all these things in mind and you should start to notice your wallet thicken in no time flat.
